The textreme POWER THREAD MICRO is a flat thread, which means that it is composed of a multitude of very thin micro filaments placed side by side. There are very few twists on this thread, only a few per metre. It is called a flat thread because during the wrapping process on the hook, its tiny fibres will lay parallel to each other, flattening out. If you want to create bodies with perfect silhouettes, flat thread is definitely a good choice because each coil will lie perfectly on top of the previous one. With flat thread you can easily create smooth bodies with a very realistic gradual taper.
The flat thread can also be used for split thread tecnique without having to double the thread. Simply divide the thread fibres into two parts with the help of a needle and insert dubbing, feathers or any animal hair into the fibres and wrap it around the hook.
However, bear in mind that as you tie the artificial fly and wrap the thread on the hook, it will tend to twist. Therefore, before splitting the thread into two parts with the needle, we recommend that you discharge some of this twist by spinning the bobbin in the opposite direction to realign the thread fibres.
POWER THREAD MICRO is particularly suitable to tie very small artificial flies. With this thread size you will be able to tie most popular dry flies and nymphs without the risk of a few too many wraps ruining the proportions of the artificial.
